(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The victorious Sri Lanka Twenty20 team led Upul Tharanga arrived in the island last night (23rd Thursday) from Australia.
The inexperienced Lankan set-up beat Australia by 2-1 after last ball thrillers in Melbourne and in Geelong.
However Australia got the better of the Lankans on Wednesday in the final T20 by 41 runs in Adelaide.
All-rounder Asela Gunaratne received the man-of-the-series for his back to back half centuries.
Sri Lanka also rediscovered new talent in Dilshan Munaweera and Vikum Sanjaya while experienced Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekara continued their dominance in international cricket.
Sri Lanka Cricket issuing a communiqué said the team arrived at the Bandaranayake International Airport (BIA) around midnight.
Large gathering including SLC officials and fans welcomed the victorious team at the Airport.
The Lankans will have a two week break before taking on the Bangladeshis in a full tour.
