UNP & SLFP both say ‘confident’ of victory at LG polls

UTV | COLOMBO – A number of political parties deposited bonds for local government bodies for the forthcoming election, today (16).

Accordingly, the UPFA deposited bonds for Yatinuwara, Ududumbara, Minipe, Uda Palatha, Pahathahewahata and Thumpane Pradeshiya Sabha and for Kadugannawa and Gampola Urban Councils in the Kandy district.

Speaking to media after depositing bonds, Minister Sarath Amunugama said that the latest survey revealed that the SLFP is receiving the fullest cooperation from its supporters.

The UPFA deposited bonds for the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha in Kegalle district at the Kegalle District Secretariat today.

The SLFP meanwhile, deposited bonds for Amparai Urban Council and Uhana, Damana and Maha Oya Pradeshiya Sabhas today.

Meanwhile, the United National Party deposited bonds for Kandy Municipal Council as well as for Kadawath Sathara and Gangawatakorale Pradeshiya Sabha today.

Speaking to media subsequent to depositing bonds, Minister Lakshman Kiriella stated that the UNP is confident of a definite victory.

Additionally, last afternoon, the United National Party deposited bonds for the remaining 16 local government bodies in Jaffna district except for Chavakachcheri Urban Council for which the party had already deposited bonds previously.

The Tamil National Alliance also deposited bonds for 16 local government bodies in Jaffna district last afternoon.
