Uber CEO quits Trump advisory board

(UDHAYAM, WASHINGTON) – Travis Kalanick, Chief Eexecutive of the worldwide taxi-hailing service Uber, dropped out of President Donald Trump’s Economic Advisory Group, after facing criticism from staff and the public.

The criticism came as reports surfaced claiming Uber is one of the technology firms, affected by Trump’s hard stance on immigration.

The company, however, allocated legal funds of US$ 3 million to help those affected, including its own drivers.

The Chief Executive was due to meet Trump today (3rd February) at President’s Advisory Council.

He reportedly changed his mind after Uber users took to twitter during the past days, with the hashtag #deleteuber.

Tesla’s Chief Executive, Elon Musk, who will be attending the meeting today, tweeted that his attendance does not mean he agrees with the actions of the administration.

Other companies involved in the panel include IBM and General Motors, foreign media reports.
