(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Ceylon Teachers Union has charged that teachers who marked 2018 GCE Ordinary Level exam papers have not been paid for their services thus far.
Union Secretary Joseph Starling said the Department of Examinations has failed to fulfil its responsibilities in this regard.
He also charged that some teachers who marked GCE A\L papers are also yet to receive any payment.
While stressing the issue was a significant one, he said paper marking payments are only a minor sum yet authorities had failed to provide it, adding only three national exams are held in a year.
Meanwhile the results of the 2018 GCE Ordinary Level examination will be released today.
Commissioner General of Examinations Sanath Pujitha said results will first be released via the Internet.
Accordingly results will be published on the Examination Department’s official website www.doenets.lk. 656,641 students sat the exam which was held in December last year.
