SL Vs IND 2nd Test: India defeats Sri Lanka by an innings and 239 runs

UTV|COLOMBO – India defeated Sri Lanka by an innings and 239 runs in the 2nd Test of 3-match series on day 4 at Nagpur today (27).

Sri Lanka who began the day on 21 for 1, lost wickets at regular intervals.

They were bowled out for 166 in their second innings.

Skipper Dinesh Chandimal was the only batsmen who could come up with any resistance against the Indians scoring 61.

It included 10 fours.

Suranga Lakmal scored 31 not out and he added 58 runs for the ninth wicket with Chandimal.

This win also equaled the biggest Test win for India on their home soil.

Ravichandran Ashwin bagged the last wicket to fall removing Lahiru Gamage for naught.

It was Ashwin’s 300th Test scalp.

With this, he became the fastest to reach 300 Test wickets. It was his 54th match.

Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers capturing 4 for 63.

Ishant Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Umesh Yadav bagged 2 wickets each.

With this win, India leads the series 1 nil.

The 3rd and final Test will begin on Saturday at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.
