(UTV|COLOMBO) – Ballot papers for postal voting of the Presidential election will be transported to all district offices and voting centres amid special security today (Oct 18), an official at the Elections Secretariat said.

The special security plan has been collaborated by the Police, Department of Posts, and the Elections Secretariat.

Postal voting of state employees and military personnel, will take place on October 31 and November 01. Employees attached to District Secretariats, Election offices, and the Police, will be able to cast their postal votes on November 04.

Around 650,000 public sector employees have gained eligibility to cast their votes, the Elections Secretariat said, adding that more than 58,000 postal vote applications had been rejected due to errors in the forms.

However, a senior official at the Elections Secretariat stated that those who did not qualify for postal voting will be able to cast a regular vote on November 16.
