India & Sri Lanka sign MoU on economic co-operation

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – India and Sri Lanka have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on economic co-operation.

The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe in New Delhi.

Earlier, the two leaders held a meeting at the Hyderabad House.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi said he held comprehensive talks with Prime Minister Wickremesinghe on ways to strengthen India-Sri Lanka ties for the benefit of citizens.

In the morning, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and India’s Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari called on the visiting Prime Minister Wickremesinghe.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to meet Premier Wickremesinghe this evening.

The Prime Minister also held discussions with former Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
