(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa says the government is prepared to face the impending drought that is expected to affect the country within the next few months.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Government Information Department this morning (13th Friday) the Minister highlighted the importance of working together with all units in order to address a possible drought.
The Minister said a severe drought is expected in the coming three months adding the ministry is taking necessary steps in order to face the situation.
Minister Yapa said the government at present is conducting an inspection to find out which regions are most affected in order to provide necessary aid.
The Minister requested media organizations that are collecting water bottles for distribution to begin the process.
