Employee at Wellampitiya copper factory further remanded until June 10

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Karuppaiah Rajendran Abdullah, an employee at a copper factory in Wellampitiya owned by one of the Easter Sunday  bombers has been further remanded until June 10.

The order was issued when the suspect who was an employee at a copper factory owned by suicide bomber Inshaf Ibrahim, was produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (May 27).

Meanwhile, eight other employees of the factory appeared before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today in line with the summons which were issued on them on May 21.

During the hearing, the Magistrate had ordered these employees to appear before the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) to record statements from tomorrow (May 28) until June 1.

The TID had told court that they needed time to question the employees. Further the TID said the suspects will not be charged under the Prevention of Terrorism Act until the conclusion of the questioning.
