UTV | COLOMBO – The services of Director General of Sports, H. M. B. P. Herath has been suspended with immediate effect by the Minister of Sports Faizer Mustapha.
Issuing a statement, the Ministry of Sports said that the Department of Sports had failed to provide lodging to the Sri Lanka contingent taking part in the Junior South Asia Athletic Championship.
Sri Lanka is fielding 84 athletes (boys & girls) and 15 sports consultants are also in the contingent.
The Sports Minister has instructed the Ministry Secretary to suspend the services of the DG after complaints were lodged.
It was reported that the hostel where Sri Lanka contingent was staying yesterday (May 04) did not have water and electricity.
