(UTV|COLOMBO) – Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa says national security collapsed during the term of the present government.
Speaking during a rally in Matara former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa accused the present administration of undermining the defence apparatus which led to the April bombings.
Rajapaksa said after the present government came into power intelligence officers were imprisoned over irrelevant charges and charges were levelled against war veterans, undermining their pride and confidence, and destroying security plans.
He claimed the present government did not prioritize national security in any manner, and had no knowledge or plan regarding national security.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa further noted the rapid development carried out within the country during the term of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa faltered after 2015.
