30 dead in ISIS attack on Kabul Military Hospital

(UDHAYAM, KABUL) – 30 people were killed and a further 50 more injured, when four IS militants armed with Automatic weapons and grenades stormed Sadar Daud military hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan on 08th March 2017.

The militants are said to have arrived at the hospital disguised as doctors and after detonating an explosion at the gate, proceeded into the hospital and opened fire.

The deadly attack ended when Commandos landed on the hospital roof and killed all four attackers after a long firefight.

The attack began at 09:00 a.m local time. A hospital staff member who saw the militants before the attack began described them – “wearing a white coat holding a Kalashnikov and opening fire on everyone, including the guards, patients and doctors”.

President Ashraf Ghani said the attack “Trampled all human values”

The assault on the hospital is the latest in a string of deadly attacks in Afghanistan since ISIS began its Afghan operations in 2015. The most recent, was a suicide attack at Kabul’s Supreme Court last month which left 22 people dead. (foreign media reports)
